Wow, another great day! It just keeps getting better. I wasn't able to blog last night because
there was an accident on the highway that stopped us for about an hour and so I
got to Pastor Stark's house just in time to go to Bible Study which was exactly
what I needed to hear. I got to tour the
Church facility which is awesome and beautiful.
I will send some pictures (if I figure it out). They fixed dinner for me which was delicious
and we talked until late. Great fellowship, I stayed on the street, near their
house, had a quiet nights sleep. I got
two CD's of Pastor Starks messages on "Excellence of Ministry through Love"
for the trip, listened to one, it was life changing.
Then I got up and left to go
on to Scottsboro, Alabama to be there by 2:30 PM. The travel there was beautiful rolling hills
(mountains for Easterners), the leaves were on their way out but still
beautiful. Lakes, quaint little towns, good roads but not Interstate, which I
enjoyed.
Scottsboro, Alabama is a sleepy little town with an Unclaimed Baggage Center that I had heard about 5 years ago and put it on my
list of things to see. I don't know why
it fascinated me so, but it seemed like fun.
I found out that at 2:30 PM
every day the public might be able to open a suitcase and I wanted to do that,
so I had to be there. (weird? yes.) I
arrived here about and hour early which allowed me to see the place. It is like a huge two building "Thrift
store" of stuff found in baggage.
They have found some unusual things like a shrunken head, wedding
dresses, diamonds, Money, a suit of armor, etc..., you can go on their website
(Unclaimed Baggage) and check it out. I found out that each person that wanted to
open the suitcase put their name in for a drawing. My name was pulled! Yippee! They put an apron
on me, gave me gloves and while I was opening the suitcase, Pam, gave the
History of the place and she said that the original owner (who was in the
coffee shop but left before I could get to meet him) started by getting a
pickup load of unclaimed suitcases and had a yard sale. It caught on and grew.
The suitcase I opened had a
shirt, two pairs of jeans and some dirty socks, all of which went into the wash
bin. They had 4 bins, Wash, Sell, Give away and Trash. It was fun and they gave me a "Unclaimed
Baggage Tee shirt and a 10% off coupon for an item. I didn't need a lot of stuff but I did buy a
back apparatus that I can put on the drivers seat that will keep my back cool
and supported while driving ($4.00), a pair of turquoise sandals,($5.00), a
notebook ($.29) and a ring ($3).
I told my flourish to the
finish RV story to two Sweet Christian ladies separately that worked there (and
gave them my blog info) and they talked about me to each other and decided to
give me a free lunch coupon with beverage for tomorrow. Wow! God
is soooooo good!
I am able to stay at the same
place in the secure parking lot (next to a grve yard, which should be quite.
My generator started but
didn't run anything, so I called my wonderful "go to" RV guy and he
talked me through it. Another operator problem.
Later while I was writing this the LP gas alarm went off and I had to
call him again. We worked that out
too.
I am well taken care of,
thank God!
Tomorrow is about a 3 hour
drive to do a Shaklee Training in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.
I can't wait to see pictures that you took. You made me wanted to go to the unclaim baggage place so bad. Looks like you've had lots of fun!
